Privacy Policy
At LibreDiary, we believe that privacy is a fundamental human right. Our software is designed from the ground up to respect your data residency and digital sovereignty.
1. Local-First Data Processing
LibreDiary is a local-first application. This means that the primary copy of your data resides on your own device and server. We do not have access to your notes, documents, or databases. All processing of your content happens on infrastructure that you control.
2. No Tracking or Analytics
We do not use trackers, cookies, or third-party analytics to monitor your behavior within the app. While our marketing website uses a self-hosted instance of Umami for basic traffic statistics (to understand which pages are popular), this data is anonymized and never sold or shared.
3. AI Integration Privacy
If you choose to use our AI writing assistant, your data is processed through OpenRouter. We act as a pass-through proxy to ensure your IP address and identity are not exposed to the AI providers. We specifically select configurations that do not use your data for model training.
4. Data Sovereignty
Your data is yours. Because LibreDiary is open-source and uses open standards like Markdown and JSON, you can export your data at any time. There is no vendor lock-in.
5. Changes to This Policy
As an open-source project, any changes to our privacy philosophy will be reflected in our public repository. We encourage you to review the source code to verify our claims.
